Factors Affecting CDL Driver Salary
A cdl driver salary can vary greatly depending on the type of job that he or she gets. Here are some factors that affect salary for these men and women.
Distance of travel. Long-haul drivers are paid more than local area truckers. Long-haulers may also get per-diem allowances.
Material for transport / vehicle type. The vehicle type is directly related to the intended cargo, and affects driving requirements. Heavier or more dangerous loads can net you more money, as will longer or more difficult-to-handle vehicles.
Training and licensure fees. If your company paid for your CDL training and licensure, it may reflect off of your salary or may require a term of service under contract.
Endorsements. Some companies will pay extra for more qualifications, even if they do not see an immediate need for them.
