How I Lowered Auto Insurance Premiums Wtih a Car in Storage
I recently had to go overseas for about six months. I needed a process to lowering insurance when your car is in storage. I was able to drop my insurance premiums significantly. First of all, the car will not be driven so the expensive collision coverage can be dropped. Liability can be dropped to the state minimum for the same reason as well. The only coverage that is needed is comprehensive, which kicks in if the car is broken into, stolen, or burnt in a fire. Other coverages like tow truck reimbursement, medical, and uninsured motorist coverage can be eliminated as well. Pretty much all that’s needed is the comprehensive (also known as “other than collision”) coverage.
