See if you can get a Skil 18v lithium ion replacement battery
I bought a nice Skil 18v cordless drill (model #2887-05) a few months ago and I was thrilled with it. It was not as expensive as the other brands that I was looking at, such as Dewalt, Makita, and Milwaukee. The tool is very well made, has great features, and is comfortable to operate. However, after using it for a while I noticed that the battery started loosing its endurance. Now this Skil 18v battery cannot even finish one job before dying. This has totally ruined my experience with this drill. The other day I decided to go to the store to buy some new batteries. I told the salesman my problem and he advised me to buy a Skil 18v lithium ion battery instead of the stock kind. This thing is really good so far; much lighter and more powerful than the NiCad one. Hopefully it will hold up.
