Not every loft conversion requires a planning permission

You might not have to get a planning permission for your loft conversion project. One exception is that the loft conversion must be the first extension that does not exceed 40 cubic meters for a terraced property, and 50 cubic meters for all others. Keep in mind, however, that this exception is applicable only to properties not located in a Conservation Area and not in the middle of two public highways. If you have a flat, a planning permission is required. This is all important information for consideration when you are planning a loft conversion project. You will have to factor in the time needed to get the required permits and approvals.
