Steel and Fiberglass Garage Doors!
A steel garage door is strong, safe, and durable. But it’s also very heavy. There are new garage door materials that are also strong but are much lighter than steel. The improved fiberglass materials can withstand 9-12g. That’s the force exerted by a jet plane or 5-6g exerted by a formula one car. Standing on the earth’s surface at sea level is equivalent to 1g. That’s the equivalent of earth’s gravitational pull. A 12 g gravitational force is already very powerful. That’s how strong a fiberglass the same kind used in garage doors is. Another light but very strong material is polycarbonate. They’re also used as part of jet fighters.
