New York Events

Friday, November 6th, 2009

I tried to plan an event in NYC last year. It was extremely difficult especially because I have only lived in New York for 2 years. There is still a lot to know about New York, especially for event planning. So, I hired an event planner. It made my job so much easier, and the event so much more cohesive and seamless. It was a beautiful event and I would suggest always using an event planner NYC. If you think it’s worth it to save money and do it yourself, think again. You event won’t be as impressive to your guests because you will most likely miss some details and be scrambling to make up for it.

Researching a cheap hotel in New York City

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

Large cities seem to be expensive tourist destinations but with a little research you can find, for example, a cheap hotel in New York City or inexpensive air fare to Toronto. There are deals all over the internet these days and even services that will keep a look out for you. Flexibility is key, though. Many deals are during week days or out of peak season. Check for passes that allow you to see a cities most popular destinations for a low rate. They sometimes allow you to go straight to the front of the line, which means you also get to spend more time enjoying yourself. If you have never stayed at a hostel, don’t be put off by ideas that they are only for students and hippies. You will also meet interesting people from around the world.

Family Trip Needs 4 Person Tent

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Our family, along with the families of my brother and sisters, are planning to go on a trip. That’s why we bought three 4 person tents. Though we might need more, I remember that I do have a tent at home that is good for two persons. You might wonder where we are heading. I won’t tell you because it will be a surprise for the kids as well. Actually, we haven’t made a final decision yet because of safety and proximity issues. We’ll have the decision by the end of the week I guess. We are also excited as well.

Have you heard about the Arenal Costa Rica Resorts?

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

If you haven’t heard about the Arenal Costa Rica resorts, you should definitely log on or search some travel guide. Arenal is a volcano area in the heart of Costa Rica, one of the most fascinating places to be as a tourist. Horse riding, trekking, visiting the volcano, visiting the beaches of Costa Rica, the amazing rainforests… these are just a few of the things you can do. Otherwise, you can simply stay at your great Arenal resort and bask under the sun, enjoying the view to the stunning volcano and the pampering services of the staff. Hard life, don’t you think?

Got itchy feet in the city?

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Do you detest it when it’s pretty much the weekend and you have utterly no plans whatever? It makes you think you’ve lost another couple of days of your living as you’ve virtually credibly spent it on the futon observing television and eating Chinese food. Why not go someplace for the weekend, doesn’t have to be exorbitant, perhaps someplace like Brighton? It’s easy to get to from London by motorcar, coach or train and it doesn’t take all day. There are piles of brighton holiday apartments you can search for the weekend all at fantastic prices. So why not take a little holiday by the ocean and check out Brighton?

The Colors of the Rainbow

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

I recently took a tour of Charleston’s Rainbow Row.  These mid 1700 row houses are a really unique landmark.  Rainbow Row is part of a citizen inspired conservation project and the houses are all painted in bright pink, yellow and blue.  I am a big photography fan, and this was one of the best photo opportunities I have come across in a long time.  The panoramic view of the ocean is breathtaking with a great view of Fort Sumter.  This is a great look into the historic past of South Carolina.  I am glad I was able to discover the colors of Charleston South Carolina.

Vacations Relieve Stress

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Nothing transports you further away from the work a day world of city life faster than tropical vacations. No matter what city you live and work in you’re still guaranteed to end up frustrated and claustrophobic after years of walking in between building and dodging traffic. It’s easy to get caught up in all the day to day hustling and forget that there’s a life to been had rather than just “spent.” Those twin chains of home life and work life prevent you from seeing anything else on an average week but as soon as you set foot off that boat or plane and see that white sand beach with its wind blown palm trees those chains will fall off like so many dead leaves in the autumn. Nowhere is it easier to forget that other world you thought you could never leave behind than in that wooden deck chair twenty feet from the water and thirty feet from the bar. Kick off those sandals, stick your toes in the sand and quite spending life so you can start living it.

We Need a Ride

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

My wife and I have been planning a trip for the past few weeks, and it has come time to drive to the airport and catch our flight.  We just found out that the person that was going to drop us off on the day of the flight is going to be out of town.  I don’t want to have to leave my car at jfk parking because it is so expensive.  I called a few other friends and all of them seem to have their days already filled up.  It is a pretty stinky situation for us to be in.

Glass Bottom Boat in Cancun

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

One of the funnest things to do if you are visiting Cancun is the glass bottomed boat tour. Wow. I could have spent hours looking into what is really another world. Snorkeling is fun, too. I’ve been to a few other tropical beaches but my Cancun vacation was special. A big part of that was the night cruise we took to Isla Mujeres, the Island of Women, where we danced and ate terrific fresh food and partied until the sun came up! We didn’t end up swimming with the dolphins, which is on my list of things to do before I die, so I guess we will have to go back to Cancun. DH wanted to go on the deep sea fishing trip, anyway!

Chan Chan

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

If you love to study archaeology and visit archaeological sites, Chan Chan is the place for you. It is located in Peru and was the capital of the Kingdom Chimor, known as the Chimu Empire. The entire settlement is the largest prehispanic mud-brick settlement. It was a large city, covering over seven square miles and is surrounded by the old palaces of the Chimu kings.  The city goes back to the start of the first millennium when the Chayhuac Citadel was built. This was the first large enclosure. Eleven more citadels were built after that. When the Incas conquered Chimu in 1470, it was the center of such a large empire that it covered 621 miles of the Pacific coastline. It also covered two-thirds of the agricultural land irrigated along that coastline.
