Are pets good Christmas gifts?
In this segment of my blog, I will be discussing the giving of pets as Christmas Gifts.
Personally, I am against this practice. Why, you ask? What harm comes from it? Well the harm done comes from thinking of animals as “things”, as this practice suggests they are. Animals are not things. Giving them away as gifts suggests that they are not worthy of respect as living things, and this sort of thinking is very subtle and insiduous, but it does have an impact on how we treat both animals and our fellow humans. Living things deserve respect as such.
