Museum Mile in Manhattan

Located on the famous Museum Mile in Manhattan, New York, The Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum is the only museum in the United States geared solely toward design. The museum is located inside the former Andrew Carnegie Mansion. The design aspect of the museum covers everything from graphic design to architecture and everything in between. The works in the museum range from the time of the Shang dynasty onward, with many being from the Renaissance period. You can view more than 40,000 three-dimensional objects, such as furniture. Wall coverings range from 17th century gilded leather to wallpaper from the mid-twentieth century to handmade Chinese wallpaper and more. In the Drawings and Prints section of the museum, you can see over 160,000 pieces of design work, including architectural drawings, industrial designs, famous graphic designs, and more. You can even see furniture designs by the one and only Frank Lloyd Wright. Anyone interested in design, architecture, and art is going to have a great time exploring all of the wonderful things there are to see at this museum. If you are in the New York City area and plan on visiting museums, you should make this one a stop on your list. It is well worth it.
